Who We are

What the Guild is About

The Grand Haven Lighthouse Quilt Guild, located in Grand Haven, Michigan, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019.  Since its first roster in 1994 of 26 members, the Guild has grown into an active Quilt Guild of approximately 150 members.  The Guild’s mission is to be a forum to exchange ideas and to provide information and education regarding quilting. In addition, quilts and contributions are donated to charitable organizations whose activities reflect the interests of the members.

The Grand Haven Lighthouse Quilt Guild meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.  Currently the meetings are being held in person and via Zoom.  Our meetings are held at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, 717 Sheldon Road, Grand Haven, Michigan.

Whether online or face to face, the meetings begin with Social Time at 6:30 p.m.  At 7:00 p.m. there is a short business meeting, followed by a featured speaker or demonstration.  In addition, members are encouraged to participate in the “Show and Tell” portion of the meeting to share their current quilting projects.

During the year, the Guild hosts spring and winter retreats, quilting classes, sew-ins, and other fun events for its members and guests.  There may be additional charge for special events and workshops; Guild members receive a special discount for these events and workshops.  There is a nominal fee for non-member guests to attend a meeting with a national speaker.

The Guild also hosts a popular public event, a Quilt Show, in conjunction with the annual U.S. Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven.  It is held during the first weekend of the Festival and features quilts made by Lighthouse Guild members.

Our Mission

The Grand Haven Lighthouse Quilt Guild is an active Quilt Guild of approximately 130 members.  Our mission is to be a forum to exchange ideas and to provide information and education regarding quilting. In addition, quilts and contributions are donated to charitable organizations whose activities reflect the interests of the members.

Normally we meet the second Monday of the month at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, located at 717 Sheldon in Grand Haven, Michigan.  Our meeting begins at 6:30 pm  with a time for socializing and is followed at 7:00 pm with the business meeting and program.

During these abnormal times we sometimes meet by ZOOM and sometimes we do both.  Information can be found in the latest newsletter or on the programs page. We do often have speakers and  show and tell, trying to keep meetings as normal as possible.

Upcoming programs and meeting details are under the “Programs-Events” tab.

Past meetings and show and tell are under the Blog Posts.
