Michael Nardi, of Bryn Mawr Quilts in Chicago, joined us this month for his in-person program titled, “From Inspector to Quilter: My life’s Journey to Solace Through Quilting.” Those who attended Nancy’s presentation in May will recall that one of the reasons people quilt is for therapy. Thirteen years ago, Michael was in a state of depression after great loss. One day he came upon a Jenny Doan YouTube while surfing the Internet and it brought him out of the darkest moment of his life.
Michael has published many patterns and recently has a new line of fabric with Andover. He brought many items to sell as you can see in the picture at the end of the quilts we were more than eager to lighten his load. He does not quilt his own quilts but his quilter does an amazing job. I tried to write down all the names of his quilts but if you look on his etsy shop he has them all listed. His quilts have been published in magazines such as American Patchwork and McCalls.
Several of his quilts are Strip Set, sounded interesting. They are Connecting Ribbons, A Twist of Fate, Chriss Cross, Parlor Tricks and Civil War Tapestry. He had a story behind the naming of many of his quilts.
Check out his patterns for sale on his etsy site. https://www.etsy.com/shop/BrynMawrQuiltLLC
He is also on facebook and instagram and he encouraged us all to follow him.
The following quote is taken from his facebook page.
“What an incredible evening with the Lighthouse Quilt Guild here in beautiful Grand Haven, Michigan! ![]()

I had the absolute pleasure of sharing my trunk show, stories, quilts, and a whole lot of laughter with one of the most welcoming groups of quilters I’ve had the opportunity to meet. Thank you to everyone who came out, asked questions, shared your quilting journeys, and made me feel right at home. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and love of quilting made the evening truly special!
One of my favorite parts of traveling is getting to experience the local flavor, and this morning did not disappoint. I stopped by Ann’s House Restaurant for breakfast and let me tell you—it is absolutely adorable! ![]()
The charming 1950s diner vibe, friendly atmosphere, and delicious breakfast made for the perfect start to the day. If you’re ever in the Grand Haven area, it’s definitely worth a visit!
Now it’s time to get ready for today’s class, and I can’t wait to spend more time with this wonderful quilting community.
Thank you again, Lighthouse Quilt Guild, for such a memorable evening. Grand Haven has been treating me very well!”
